This paper was written to further explore the Competent Learner Model (CLM) and how it is being implemented in a specific school district. In this paper, CLM is explored at the instructional theory level to better understand the basic principles behind its development and implementation in the special education classroom. I decided to study the components of CLM to look more closely at the instructional theories that it utilizes. By looking closer at CLM and understanding its basic concepts on the instructional theory level I hope to be better equipped to learn and implement CLM when I am asked to resume my training.
