This instructional learning object (ILO) was created to aid in the instruction of primary and secondary colors and to allow the learner to test their knowledge at the end of the activity. There is narration throughout the ILO so students do not have to rely on reading skills to be independent in this task; supporting learners of varying ages and abilities. A video clip was used to help demonstrate to students what happens when primary colors are mixed. In the assessment section, large buttons were placed for the student to select their answer so this ILO can be used by students with fine motor delays so they can answer questions more independently. This ILO has been set up to allow students to be as independent as possible. It allows them to explore the material, complete the questions, and go back into the instruction to see it again if they had trouble with the assessment questions.
ISTE Standards supported by this Instructional Handout include:
Standard 2 (a, b, d, f, g): This ILO was created with differentiation in mind. While it can not be altered in the actual learning object, if the teacher would like a student to read the material on their own they can mute the computer. A variety of instructional methods and engaging elements were included in this ILO to make it a memorable learning experience and allow them the opportunity to assess their learning during the activity.
Standard 5 (b): Resources used in this project were clearly cited, a model of appropriate use of items created by others.
Standard 6 (a, b, c): As part of the coursework for LTLE 570 to complete the certification in educational technology this project along with the draft/peer review/final/portfolio process allows me to continue to deepen my knowledge and understanding of "technological areas" and the cooresponding professional standards.
