This e-learning activity was created using Adobe Captivate. It is an interactive learning activity designed to instruct teachers on how to set up an account on the Seesaw website and the basics on how to use it. I would not have been able to create this without the Lynda.com training that the module directed us to. Being a special educator, I like to create learning activities that can be accessed by people with varying abilities. For this reason, I decided to have both written and spoken narration wherever possible during the instruction. This may be helpful to those visual and auditory learners. A screencast demo was created as well to give learners a tour of Seesaw so they are familiar with what they will find when they go to the website to set up their account. The quiz questions at the end assess their knowledge of the instruction and give them a helpful recap of information if they get the question incorrect.
ISTE Standards supported by this Instructional Handout include:
Standard 2 (d, e): This e-learning activity introduces teachers to a tool that can be used in conjunction with creative lessons to share what they've created bringing the lesson to a higher level and could allow for differentiation and more individualized work and submission to the app.
Standard 3 (a, b, c, g): This e-learning activity introduces teachers and administrators to a technology that is free to access, enriches instruction, and expands the learning environment to include parents, teachers, and students. This app allows for the secure and private collaboration of students with each other, their teachers, and their parents.
Standard 4 (a, b, c): This e-learning activity was created after an informal needs assessment of my peers who had not yet heard of or started to use Seesaw in their classroom. I wanted to share this website after successfully implementing the use of Seesaw in my early childhood special education classroom as a way to collect data, share student product and activities, and classroom news and updates during the school day with their parents. The ability to use this technology to help bridge the gap between home and school embodies best practice in early childhood education. The assessment questions at the end of the e-learning activity test the learners comprehension and reiterates the important information if they get the question incorrect.
Standard 5 (b): Resources used in this project were clearly cited, a model of appropriate use of items created by others.
Standard 6 (a, b, c): As part of the coursework for LTLE 570 to complete the certification in educational technology this project along with the draft/peer review/final/portfolio process allows me to continue to deepen my knowledge and understanding of "technological areas" and the cooresponding professional standards.
